Do you know what time it is?

Felt like I had a life again today, which was nice. Spent time organizing a portfolio AND I finally got the promotional postcards I ordered from VistaPrint in the mail today, so that rocked. Now if only I knew what to do with them...

Started my academic exploration into the field of Illustration tonight, which was fun, except when my car engine started crapping out on me when it was time to go home. I feared I might get stranded crossing the bay at 10PM, so I said a little prayer, had my cell phone ready, and just drove drove drove across the bridge towards home. Fortunately, it seems the universe is not too upset with me, since I actually made it all the way back ok. Unfortunately, this means a trip to the mechanic tomorrow morning, spending more money on car stuff, and not being able to sleep much. BAH. At least I have my animal hair pins to brighten my day tomorrow.

P.S. X-Men: Last Stand sucked, more than I expected it to. But there sure was a huge cheer during the "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!" line. It's wierd to see a movie reference a web meme which referenced a cartoon about a comic book. METAPOP!

My brain feels funny, like this drawing.

Magazine doodle

The wacky part of me really wants to run out and catch a midnight showing of X:3 tonight, and the reasonable part of me is saying don't do it! Because I have been known to fall asleep at the movie theatre and not only to I have to be at work in the morning, but my job also requires me to be "ON" and somewhat performative. Besides, my date doesn't want to stay up late with me to watch what will most likely be a movie that is only good for the spectacle. What can I say, I am a sucker for seeing MUTANTS USING POWERS on screen, hehe.

Last night I made this doodle in a magazine, and have started getting hooked on GLITTER. It's very...walking the fine line between like, KITSCH and POSTMODERN art bullcrap. Or maybe just giving into kitsch. Yeah. So I had a nap when I got home today and went shopping for more (MORE MORE MUST HAVE MORE) glitter. I keep running into this problem where I can't find the perfect kind...like, these crystals are too big, i need them to be finer! No, no, no, not glitter glue, dammnit!

Shopping is bad for me, because of my indecisiveness. If I weren't so impatient, I'd mailorder everything. EVERYTHING.

Buh.

J'adore
This piece didn't come out nearly as cool as I was hoping it would, but oh well. You win some, you lose some, I guess. I'll have to try this idea out again another time.

Acrylic, ink, fabric and thread on paper.

Cyanotypes are life.

I played around with making cyanotypes again last week, and toning them with tannic acid, which is always fun. I put up three so far in my shop, and might put up more depending on how productive I am today.

I hate my neighbors, i'm tired, and i want you to love me...

...by signing up for my mailing list. Heh heh...last night I tinkered around with Google Groups to set up an email announcement list for my website, art projects, and webstore. You can sign up by going to the front page of my website.

Started a drawing tonight...it's horrible how extremely tired I get right after I return home from work. The only thing that's been keeping me awake this week is working on drawings. Otherwise I pass out for 3 hours and wake up hungry, cranky, and sore from the bruxism.

YIKES. So anyway, last night at 3 AM our horrible upstairs neighbor Ms. Stomps-A-Lot has her tv on really loud while we're trying to fall asleep. Now, I dunno if she's just hard of hearing or fell asleep with it on this loud, like, i just don't know if SHE KNOWS. So I go upstairs and knock and knock and not suprisingly there is no answer. I return to our bedroom and take a large cardboard tube which I obtained from when I used to do mural size photographic prints, and with one end to the ceiling, and the my mouth on the other, I yell in my most robot monotone voice "TURN DOWN THE TV PLEASE." Then I hit the ceiling a few times. Then a couple more "TURN IT DOWN"s. More ceiling hitting. Finally the ceiling creaks and the volume lowers.

Tonight my downstairs neighbors are bbq-ing and being Loudy McLoudersons. I want to throw something toxic down in their grill and poison them, but that would probably be bad, like those neighbors in Los Gatos that strung a rope across a road becuase they were pissed at loud motorcyclists and then nearly be-headed one. Hooray for stories I can remember from the evening news!

Screw apartment buildings with paper-thin walls. When the oppurtunity arises, I will be so outta heeeeeeeere.

Oh, Honey.

Something I made tonight, starting out as a doodle (like most of my stuff usually does) then turning into something more...something awful? Awfully something, that's for sure. Most people when seeing my art tell me I'm weird, so much so where it's gotten to the point where I'm just like "well duh."

Last Minute Illustration, Fat Birthday

Wowee! I am probably not going to get this drawing finished by the time this week's IF for "fat" ends, but I wanted to get it in, so this will be more of a work in progress submission, and I'll update the entry as I get it completed. I'll maybe even throw in some original process sketches for fun, and to make up for the lack of blog material as of late. It's been a busy busy week, and the day job keeps it hard sometimes to find time to motivate myself to draw. So here is where i'm at so far with this illustration.

We celebrated Michael's 25th birthday this Tuesday, and the theme was Fat Guys and Animals. I got the game Wario World as a gift, and also made him a Flamepig puppet. Then we went to the zoo! The day is chronicled on my flickr page, with pics of many creatures and the Flampig puppet.

The finished drawing...
