New items added to le shoppe

I'm trying to save up for a new digital camera, so I added 8 new items to the shop while listening to episodes of Star Trek The Original Series in the background today, because it's really difficult for me to actually sit down and watch an entire episode of TOS at one time. It's just too much 60's-ness for me to handle.

The leaving of stuffed toys on top of the mailboxes in my apartment building seems to be turning into a trend. This one creeped me out as I came home last night. I wonder why they put quotes around the "A"???

quickie portrait

Here's a quick one for this week's Illustration Friday: Portrait. This is a sketch I did a long while ago, when I had this particular haircut, which I've been itching to return to because I'm finding that long hair+summertime heat = gross. Here's an interesting tidbit...hair is something I dream about a lot (along with driving, and teeth). Usually, it's my own hair, and in my dreams I might be trying to fix it a certain way, or it's much longer than it is in actuality, but once I dreamt that I met Evangeline Lilly from Lost and the only thing I could think to say to her was "OH MY GOD I LOVE YOUR HAIR!" Dreams are funny like that, aren't they? I will try my hardest to not actually say that if I ever do end up meeting Evangeline Lilly.

I had another idea for the topic of portrait, but that may or may not happen depending on time, which seems to always be a deciding factor in things these days, unfortunately. If only I were an insomniac...I'd get so much done! Of course, that's probably not true, I'd probably waste those hours gawking at things like this.

My day off.

Today was very very nice because after a long week of busy-ness/hell/stress I had a day off which I dedicated to not doing anything important. All the crap on my to-do list woud be pushed back for tomorrow, because today I needed relaxion, a diversion, inspiration...

We took a trip to the Musee Mechanique this afternoon, via ferry boat, for our bi-annual photobooth pictures. Being outside on a big ass boat and zipping through water did a lot to calm my nerves.

The machines were beautiful, strange, old, creepy, majestic, and it's just cool to think about these being a popular form of entertainment back in the day. For more pics, check out my flickr set.
